HEALTH, RESILIENCE & COUNTER-EXTREMISN
BNF works on two connected dimensions of community health and resilience: preventing disease through behaviour change advocacy, and building the social and psychological resilience that protects young people from radicalisation and violent extremism.
Both areas rely on the same insight: formal messaging campaigns reach limited audiences. Creative, community-embedded approaches using arts, performance, and peer engagement reach far wider and leave lasting impact.

Baki Njia Kuu; HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign

BNF partnered with PSI in a bold HIV/AIDS awareness campaign across five Tanzanian regions, promoting partner faithfulness under the message 'Michepuko Sio Dili' contextually meaning 'Avoid multiple sexual partners.' The campaign combined live advocacy performances with distribution of materials including posters and t-shirts, reaching audiences who would not typically engage with formal health messaging.
HIV/AIDS Community Mobilisation; Jobud Inflatables Campaign

Working with Jobud Inflatables, BNF supported the installation of large, highly visible branded balloons carrying clear HIV/AIDS prevention messages in strategic public locations across five regions maximising visibility and community reach in areas with high foot traffic.
Research on Drivers of Violent Extremism

BNF contributed to research the real reasons why people get pulled into violent and extremist groups across five areas in Tanzania. We did this research because every community faces different challenges, and we needed to stop guessing and get the real facts. The findings were used to create specific, practical programs that protect vulnerable youth and stop radicalization before it starts. This helps local organizations use real evidence to build safer neighborhoods and give support exactly where it is needed most.
COVID-19 Response; Mask Production & Distribution
Region: Arumeru District, Arusha Region
When COVID-19 reached rural communities with limited access to protective equipment, BNF took proactive action mobilising community stakeholders, engaging local tailors to produce reusable masks, and distributing them to vulnerable community members and students. The response demonstrated BNF's capacity to act quickly and decisively in public health emergencies.
